Palkova - The Memorable Recipe 🍴💛

Every recipe as a memory, this one started it all 🪜

Hi Listeners!👋

 Welcome back to Gastrophile's Journey.

This isn't just a sweet - it's the dish that made me fall into cooking. It is still delicious 🤤 in memory.

After sharing the story of my first ever dish - I'm here to pass on the recipe itself. This isn't  just a Sweet/Dessert. It's a piece of fadeless memory 📝.

🍮Recipe - The Palkova

Do you know palkova❓. Now I'll share the recipe I tried  first 🥇

Yeah! Let's make palkova, the Indian milk 🥛 sweet that started it all for me.

🧺Ingredients - I Used

  • Milk 🥛  - 1/2 litre
  • Sugar🍚 - 250 g (Adjust to your taste)
  • Ghee🧈  - 1 Teaspoon (Optional - For                          the rich aroma)
  • Cardamom powder🍀 - a pinch (Optional -                                       for aroma)
  • Salt🧂   - a pinch (To enhance sweet)

🍴Vessels and Tools

       ★ Pan (Kadai) 🍳
       ★ Solid spoon 🥄 - For Stirring
       ★ Bowl 🥣 - To serve

🥘Method :

Love, Patience & a bit of stirring.

1.Boil The Milk 🥛

  • Pour the milk ( use normal / rich cream milk) into a pan (kadai
  • Bring it to a gentle boil on medium flame 🔥, stirring occasionally.

2. Reduce It Slowly

  • Stir... Stir... and stir again
  • Let the milk reduce to half and starts to thick . It takes approx 15 minutes⏳or above.

3. Add Other Ingredients 🀦

  • One thickened, Add sugar and stir well.( Confession: I add a sugar late & the palkova got a little sticky. But it still tastes good 😊)
  • Sugar melts then add ghee and cardamom powder if needed

This is a creation of the imagination, not a photograph or a depiction of original one
I didn't have the pic of my first Recipe😔)

4. Cook Until It Comes Together

  • It will look like soft, grainy fudge.

5. Cool & Serve

  • Turn off the flame 🔥 & let it rest.
  • Serve in small bowl 🥣 or gift 🎁 it with lots of love 😘 - just like I did.

 👩‍🍳Your Gastrophile's Tip:

Stir gently🥄. Don't rush. Let the sweet become a story on its own.
